Pragmatic software engineer

I build practical software for real-world problems.

I’m Phia, a Minneapolis-based engineer turning complex workflows into focused products. I’m especially excited by what becomes possible when strong engineering judgment meets AI.

About me

Engineering with judgment.

I’m a pragmatic engineer who enjoys finding the smallest clear system that can solve a meaningful problem well.

My work spans product design, full-stack engineering, data pipelines, automation, mobile apps, and the operational details that turn a demo into a dependable product. I care about what happens after software ships: how it is understood, maintained, and used in the real world.

I see AI as a force multiplier for thoughtful engineers. The future I am interested in is not software built with less care, but better software built through faster feedback, broader exploration, and stronger human judgment.

01

Start with the workflow

Understand the real decision, handoff, or frustration before choosing the technology.

02

Build for the operator

Good systems make the next action obvious and stay understandable when the original builder steps away.

03

Use AI with judgment

Let AI widen the solution space while tests, evidence, and human accountability protect quality.

Areas I work across

  • Product engineering
  • Full-stack systems
  • Data pipelines
  • Operational tooling
  • AI-assisted workflows
  • iOS and SwiftUI
  • Cloud infrastructure

Current focus

Focused on building.

I’m not pursuing new roles or client work right now. I’m still glad to connect with thoughtful engineers and builders, especially around practical software and where AI is taking the craft.
